The electricity produced by the Dudgeon Offshore Wind Farm needs to be brought to shore in order that it can be fed into the National Grid for distribution to UK electricity consumers.
A 24 mile long 132kV cable has been laid on the seabed from the wind farm to landfall at Weybourne Hope on the coast of North Norfolk. At landfall, it has been connected to an underground cable which has been specially installed to transmit the electricity to the National Grid via a new substation at Necton near the market town of Swaffham in the Breckland district of Norfolk.
